Evaluations and a Bit of Ice Cream
Well, we have officially reached the halfway point for the Chicago Semester Program! I will have a meeting with my instructor as well as my supervisor at Symmetri to check in on everything. I cannot believe we’re already halfway through.
Outside of classes, nothing too crazy has happened the past two weeks. I did, however, have the opportunity to go home this past weekend which was an enjoyable break from the city for a few days. My Arts in the City course attended the Joffrey Ballet’s performance of The Times Are Racing which was absolutely incredible! This featured a variety of modern pieces (outside of the realm of what you might think of when you hear the word “ballet”). If you ever get the chance to see any ballet performance, however, I highly recommend taking that opportunity. The strength and skills of these dancers is awe-inspiring.
Last night we also saw Kill Move Paradise, a play inspired by and in honor of all of the African American men and women who have been innocently killed as of late. This was also an extremely moving performance featuring a variety of thought-provoking scenes.
If you ever get the chance to travel to Chicago, you must try Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams! The variety and quality of the flavors is insane!! I just hope they have the cinnamon swirl one when you visit! Lizzy and I visited a shop in Old Town last week and had the chance to try this ice cream.
Time is literally melting away faster than an ice cream cone on a hot summer day (I apologize for the pun, but i couldn’t let someone else scoop it 😏) and I can’t wait for the rest of the semester!
Until next time,
