The Briar Cliff University music department presents the annual holiday concert “A Briar Cliff Christmas” on December 7 at 7:30 P.M. in Our Lady of Grace Chapel on campus.
The Briar Cliff Singers and Chamber Choir, led by the Director of Choral Activities Jamie Kelley, performed a variety of songs ranging from traditional holiday music to some new renditions, “We have a very exciting performance to bring in the Christmas season,” says Kelley.
The concert was comprised of a capella music along with songs accompanied by a piano, cello and organ. Joining the Briar Cliff Singers and the Chamber Choir was the Missouri River Choral Society, conducted by John Flanery. Kelley spoke highly of the Missouri River Choral Society because Briar Cliff will be welcoming Flanery back, “It’s nice to bring back alum and see how far they have gone.”
The concert was important for more than just bringing in holiday spirit. The group was excited to show off all their hard work from the semester, “this performance culminates everything we have worked on this semester,” says junior choir member, Luke Griesel. The event also gets them ready for the spring concert season.
Being the biggest concert of the year, the choir expects a big turnout with a good reaction. “It’s going to be amazing,” says Griesel.
