Internship, Events, Flat Tire... Oh My!
Updated: Feb 14
It's crazy to think I have been living in Chicago for three weeks already! It feels as though we have all been here so much longer.
Over the past two weeks, I started my internship at Symmetri Marketing Group! This has already been an amazing experience and I cannot wait to continue working on various projects. I've had the opportunity to work on a few projects with different clients, doing some photo editing and creating mock-ups for ads. I am looking forward to seeing how these progress.
Outside of my internship, I have also experienced some pretty amazing events. On January 18th, I attended the Chicago Women's March with my roommates and some other students from the program. This was an eye-opening experience, and it was so empowering to witness so many individuals fighting for causes they believe in.
In addition, I have seen two plays for my Arts in the City course, including The Tasters and The Mousetrap. These have provided a great opportunity to explore the city and they have been amazing shows! I cannot stress enough how incredible the actors, sets, and plots were for both. We have a fine arts event every week, so I'll be sure to keep you posted on upcoming events. Outside of the class, my roommates and I also attended an unplanned event at the House of Blues.
Away from arts events, one of the more exciting events occurred one day on my commute back to the apartment. After riding on a bus for around 8 minutes, I heard a sudden whoosh of air as the right side of the bus slowly fell toward the ground. Of course, the bus had a flat tire. This was an interesting and unexpected experience, which made the past two weeks even more interesting while living in the city. Ahh the joys of public transportation!
My time in Chicago thus far has already been incredible and I cannot wait to see where the rest of the semester takes me.
Until next time,
